ANGELA BOURQUE

PRESCHOOL DIRECTOR & TEACHER

Angela has been an integral part of Tahoe City Community Nursery School since 2008, bringing dedication, warmth, and a deep passion for early childhood education. A longtime Tahoe City resident, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Human Development from the University of California, Davis, in 2007. Her journey in education began the following year as a teacher at the nursery school, and by 2009, she stepped into the role of Preschool Director.

With a strong foundation in child development and years of hands-on experience, Angela oversees the daily operations of the preschool, including administration, curriculum development, parent and community engagement, and creating a nurturing, safe environment for both students and staff. She believes that a preschool should feel like a “second home”, where children thrive in a space built on love, respect, and exploration.

Angela’s teaching philosophy is rooted in play-based learning and socialization, ensuring children develop confidence as they prepare for transitional kindergarten or kindergarten. She is also passionate about fostering an appreciation for nature, believing that outdoor exploration is key to a child’s development.

Teaching young children runs in Angela’s family—her mother, a dedicated preschool teacher, founded the Truckee Elementary Preschool, and Angela proudly carries on this tradition.

Outside of school, Angela enjoys spending time outdoors with her partner and their two daughters, Claire and Eve. Whether cross-country skiing in the winter or hiking in the summer, she embraces the beauty of Tahoe’s natural surroundings. Known for her stability, consistency, and reliability, Angela is committed to providing a warm, enriching environment where children, families, and staff feel supported and valued.
